Three Rivers Rain Garden Alliance background and agreement
Program goal: to promote the installation of rain gardens through education and facilitation as one means of reducing storm water impacts in the region.
Main Components of the Three Rivers Rain Garden Alliance
- I. Education and outreach. Partners will collaborate on educational and promotional materials including: website, brochures, displays, posters, workshops, presentations, etc
- II. Installation of gardens.
Partners may facilitate the installation of gardens or provide technical assistance during installation. Partners or members will register these gardens on the Rain Garden Alliance website
- III. Promotion of the Alliance.
Levels of participation in the Alliance
- Memberany individual, business, school, or other entity that installs and rain garden and registers it on the Rain Garden Alliance website
- Partnerany organization or business that agrees to do the following:
- 1. Participate in 6 hours of education about rain gardens per year
- 2. Make available rain garden alliance materials to their constituents
- 3. Participate in one rain garden educational event per year (examples may include hosting a rain garden program, providing training at a workshop, manning a rain garden booth at an environmental event, etc.)
- 4. Agree to be listed as a resource on the Alliance web site
- 5. Provide an end-of-the-year update to the Alliance on all rain garden activities
- Steering Committeeany partner who participates in setting the goals and strategies of the Alliance and agrees to attend 50% of the steering committee meetings per year
Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania (ASWP) owns and maintains the Three Rivers Rain Garden Alliance website, URL, and the garden registration database. ASWP provides Alliance Member Garden and Alliance partner signs, and has primary fiduciary responsibility for the Three Rivers Rain Garden Alliance.
